,ATB Associazione Culturale presenta “Wood's Narrative” dello scultore iraniano Rasoul Olia Lavasani.
L'esposizione dal 10 al 20 dicembre 2023 presso lo spazio espositivo di ATB Associazione Culturale, è stata pensata come parte del progetto #PoemArteLitteram, espressione delle attività dell'Associazione per la stagione espositiva e culturale dedicate all'arte visuale e performativa come linguaggio universale che travalica le barriere, in relazione con la poesia e la letteratura espressioni delle singole sperimentazioni culturali. La sfida che ATB si pone è quella di uscire dagli ormai superati confini culturali combinando in una singola esperienza ibrida e totalizzante due mondi che, almeno in occidente si ritengono separati, verso un “New Deal” già indagato da Pasolini o Isgrò volto ad alimentare con l'essenza pura del segno grafico l'inesauribile creatività artistica contemporanea.
Sul solco, la mostra dell'artista iraniano Rasoul Olia Lavasani “Wood's Narrative”. Le sue opere principiano in uno scenario culturale che vanta uno dei più ricchi e antichi patrimoni artistici del mondo, che è un vero punto di incontro tra Oriente e Occidente, e riprendono schemi e motivi iconografici già in uso presso i mesopotamici, riadattandoli e trasformandone sia il significato sia lo stile attraverso una rielaborazione originale fatta di linguaggi espressivi, vuoti e pieni con una forte istanza visionaria accompagnata da un'altrettanta capacità realizzativa.
Le opere di “Wood's Narrative” non vanno lette e mediate attraverso la nostra storia dell'arte, ma attraverso una delle più antiche culture del Vicino Oriente che, grazie alla sua imponenza, il suo spirito e l'ecletticità, ha influenzato direttamente culture e popoli lontani: dalla Russia alla penisola arabica all'Asia meridionale e orientale alla Macedonia e finanche l'Italia.
Il giovane scultore Rasoul Olia Lavasani sceglie per le sue opere la via dell'astrazione, pur rimanendo fedele alla tradizione utilizzando materiali lignei per le sue creazioni. Il suo è un percorso legato essenzialmente alla materia che diventa gioco, creazione, trasformazione, nuova forma che, a sua volta, diventa immagine che diventa racconto, ma soprattutto indagine, ricerca della spazialità tipica degli espressionisti (in occidente). Le sue sono architetture ardite che creano interazione tra diverse forme riflessive, una sorta di tensione e di confronto reciproco. Evidente appare la funzione di un vero e proprio laboratorio concettuale, inventivo, sperimentale, rivolto a costruire con il pubblico un coinvolgimento profondo e globale. Le sculture di Rasoul Olia Lavasani acquisiscono identità sempre nuove secondo la loro collocazione integrandosi con lo spazio in modo da renderlo unico anche grazie allo stile estremamente elegante e armonioso che combina motivi derivati dalle piante, motivi di ispirazione cinese o faunistica e motivi calligrafici che in Iran sono di per se stessi pittura.
Nel corso della storia, l'Iran è stato spesso definito la culla dell'umanità e della cultura e ha sempre favorito l'arte. Oggi, nonostante la crisi economica e le sanzioni del governo degli Stati Uniti, sempre più artisti e gallerie di queste importanti regioni del mondo partecipano attivamente alla scena artistica sia in oriente che in occidente, permettendo così a tutti, di ogni secolo e di ogni cultura, di rappresentare tramite la propria arte la loro voglia di esprimersi ed essere compresi!

ATB Associazione Culturale presents Wood's Narrative by Iranian sculptor Rasoul Olia

The exhibition, which takes palce from 10 to 20 December 2023 at ATB Associazione
Culturale's exhibition space, has been conceived as part of the #PoemArteLitteram project, an
expression of the Association's activities for the exhibition and cultural season dedicated to
visual and performance art as a universal language that transcends barriers, in relation to
poetry and literature as expressions of individual cultural experimentation. ATB's challenge
is to break out of outdated cultural boundaries by combining, in a single hybrid and all-
embracing experience, two worlds that, at least in the West, are considered separate, towards
a "New Deal" already investigated by Pasolini or Isgrò aimed at nourishing the inexhaustible
contemporary artistic creativity with the pure essence of the graphic sign.

Along the same line, the exhibition by the Iranian artist Rasoul Olia Lavasani "Wood's
Narrative" takes place. His works begin in a cultural scenario that offers one of the richest
and most ancient artistic heritages in the world, a true meeting point between East and West,
and take up iconographic patterns and motifs already in use by the Mesopotamians,
readapting them and transforming both their meaning and style through an original reworking
made up of expressive languages, voids and solids with a strong visionary urge accompanied
by an equally strong capacity for realisation.
The works of 'Wood's Narrative' are not to be read and mediated through our history of art,
but through one of the oldest cultures of the Near East, whose grandeur, spirit and eclecticism
has directly influenced distant cultures and peoples: from Russia to the Arabian Peninsula to
South and East Asia to Macedonia and even Italy.

The young sculptor Rasoul Olia Lavasani chooses the path of abstraction for his works, while
remaining faithful to tradition by using wooden materials for his creations. His is a path
essentially linked to the material that becomes play, creation, transformation, a new form
that, in turn, becomes an image that becomes a story, but above all an investigation, a search
for spatiality typical of the expressionists (in the West). His are daring architectures that
create interaction between different reflective forms, a kind of tension and mutual
confrontation. The function of a true conceptual, inventive, experimental workshop, aimed at
building a profound and global involvement with the public, is evident. Rasoul Olia
Lavasani's sculptures acquire new identities according to their location, integrating with the
space in such a way as to make it unique, also thanks to the extremely elegant and
harmonious style that combines plant-derived motifs, Chinese or faunal-inspired motifs and
calligraphic motifs, which in Iran are paintings in themselves.
Throughout history, Iran has often been called the cradle of humanity and culture and has
always favoured art. Today, despite the economic crisis and the sanctions of the US
government, more and more artists and galleries from these important regions of the world

are actively participating in the art scene both in the East and in the West, allowing everyone,
from every century and every culture, to represent through their art their desire to express
themselves and be understood!
RASOUL OLIA LAVASANI

Since my childhood, I have been thinking about the complexities of the world and later I became more interested in this topic and I think about the mystery of the nature and the universe. I wanted to be able to express and show these mysterious complications in a different way and because I was very interested in wood and wooden structures, decided to show these complications by making special statues anc sculptures. My favorite topic is to show the complexities of the world and us humans and our relationships and at the same time its simplicity. When I look carefully, I see that we humans are the world around us are very simple at the same time as greatness and complexity. My favorite technique and plan is the construction of intertwined and nested volumes, this is something that I am very interested in discovering and making my goals and desire are two fields of art and work to know and discover the mystery of this world, people and secrets of life and relationships. I try to create a work from a piece of wood that is visually beautiful, has a special message to ghe audience and inspires. My inspiration in this path was and is the world itself and the people around us. I expect the audience and viewers of my works to find the simplicity of the world and interpersonal relationships and to be able to connected to a single point at the root.
The process of starting my work started whith a raw idea and I started a simple sculpture, which continued with more study, thoughts, more experience and using the depth of thoughts and feelings in doing the work. I tried to be able to convery my message to the audiences. Wood il alive and has a soul, I try to manifest its soul.
